Ingredients
Crumb Topping
  • 1Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1Cup OatsOld Fashioned
  • 1Cup Brown Sugar(we prefer light brown sugar for this recipe)
  • 1teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 2/3Cup Butterdiced into small chunks or softened (not melted)
  • 1dash Salt
Apple Filling
  • 7-8Large Granny Smith ApplesPeeled and Sliced Thin
  • 6Tablespoons ButterMelted
  • 4Tablespoons All Purpose Flour
  • 2Tablespoons Lemon Juice(bottled works fine but fresh is always best!)
  • 6Tablespoons Milk(I use 2%)
  • 2teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4Cup Brown Sugar(we prefer light brown sugar for this recipe)
  • 1teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1dash Salt
Serving Suggestion
  • 1carton Vanilla Ice Creamto scoop on top of each serving! (optional, but seriously….)
Instructions
Preheat your oven:
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
For the Topping
  1. Combine all of the crumb topping ingredients with a fork in a medium to large mixing bowl until it forms small crumbs. Refrigerate and move on to prepare the apple filling.
For the Apple Filling
  1. In a small bowl, combine melted butter and flour with a fork or wire whisk until well blended. Add lemon juice, milk and vanilla and stir well. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour butter mixture over apples and toss to coat. Pour apple mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread into an even layer. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and top is set. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  2. Scoop up individual servings while it’s nice and warm into bowls or plates and top each serving with a scoop or two (or three) of your favorite vanilla ice cream!
