1CupBrown Sugar(we prefer light brown sugar for this recipe)
2/3CupButterdiced into small chunks or softened (not melted)
7-8LargeGranny Smith ApplesPeeled and Sliced Thin
4TablespoonsAll Purpose Flour
2TablespoonsLemon Juice(bottled works fine but fresh is always best!)
6TablespoonsMilk(I use 2%)
3/4CupBrown Sugar(we prefer light brown sugar for this recipe)
1cartonVanilla Ice Creamto scoop on top of each serving! (optional, but seriously….)
Preheat your oven:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
For the Topping
Combine all of the crumb topping ingredients with a fork in a medium to large mixing bowl until it forms small crumbs. Refrigerate and move on to prepare the apple filling.
For the Apple Filling
In a small bowl, combine melted butter and flour with a fork or wire whisk until well blended. Add lemon juice, milk and vanilla and stir well. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour butter mixture over apples and toss to coat. Pour apple mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread into an even layer. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and top is set. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Scoop up individual servings while it’s nice and warm into bowls or plates and top each serving with a scoop or two (or three) of your favorite vanilla ice cream!
